in[+]frame introduces photographer Thanos Savvidis
In[+]frame introduces, Thanos Savvidis, a rising Cypriot photographer living and working in Pafos. In the last years Savvidis has succeeded to gather an interesting body of photographic work, that worths to be seen. His photographs may be viewed as a flirt with classic photography of the 20th century but in a fresh and lively look. He risks, he experiments, he focuses inward and outward and he captures images of various and diverse subjects. A small taste from his work is selected and presented in the relative in[+]frame gallery.

Short bio
Thanos Savvidis was born in Pafos (Cyprus) in 1972. He works as a deputy head-teacher in primary education. He has a doctorate degree in School Leadership. He has been a member of the Photographic Society of Cyprus since 2009 and the president of the Pafos Branch since 2012. He has participated in several workshops and seminars about photography (e.g. Nikos Economopoulos, Magnum – Loukas Vasilikos, ViVo – Platon Rivellis). He has won awards and acceptances in local, national and international photography competitions. He participated in group exhibitions in Cyprus, Greece and Germany. Since July 2015 he is an associate member of the photography collective BuLB Photos. In October 2015 his work was published in Inspired Eye magazine. His current work is on the projects Absurd Reality, Family and In Gear.

Το In[+]frame παρουσιάζει σήμερα, τον Θάνο Σαββίδη, έναν ανερχόμενο Κύπριο φωτογράφο που ζει και εργάζεται στη Πάφο. Τα τελευταία χρόνια ο Σαββίδης έχει επιτύχει να συγκεντρώσει μια ενδιαφέρουσα φωογραφική δουλειά που αξίζει να προβληθεί. Οι φωτογραφίες του θα μπορούσαν να ειδωθούν ως ένα φλερτ με την κλασσική φωτογραφία του 20ου αιώνα, αλλά μέσα από μια πιο φρέσκια και ζωντανή ματιά. Ρισκάρει, πειραματίζεται, εμβαθύνει και επικοινωνεί αποτυπώνοντας εικόνες από ποικίλα και διαφορετικά θέματα.

Σύντομο βιογραφικό
Ο Θάνος Σαββίδης γεννήθηκε στην Πάφο (Κύπρο) το 1972. Εργάζεται ως βοηθός διευθυντής στη δημοτική εκπαίδευση. Έχει διδακτορικό στη Σχολική Ηγεσία. Είναι μέλος της Φωτογραφικής Εταιρείας Κύπρου από το 2009 και πρόεδρος του παραρτήματος Πάφου από το 2012. Συμμετείχε σε διάφορα σεμινάρια και εργαστήρια φωτογραφίας (π.χ. Νίκος Οικονομόπουλος, Magnum – Λουκάς Βασιλικός, ViVo – Πλάτων Ριβέλλης). Κέρδισε βραβεία σε τοπικούς, εθνικούς και διεθνής διαγωνισμούς φωτογραφίας. Συμμετείχε σε ομαδικές εκθέσεις φωτογραφίας στην Κύπρο, Ελλάδα και Γερμανία. Από τον Ιούλη του 2015 είναι μέλος της κολεκτίβας φωτογραφίας BulB Photos. Τον Οκτώβρη 2015 η δουλειά του παρουσιάστηκε σε συνέντευξη στο ηλεκτρονικό περιοδικό Inspired Eye. Τώρα εργάζεται πάνω στα project Absurd Reality, Family and In Gear.
